Comedians Lenny Clarke and Tony V and hundreds of people attended the Ryan Harrington Foundation Annual Corn Toss Tournament Fundraiser to benefit Somerville Youth this past Saturday at Trum Field.
The 2016 champs of the 5th Annual Ryan Harrington Foundation’s Corn Toss Tournament had chances to win a some cash and support Somerville’s youth in the process.
Registration fees were $50 per team-2 players per team.
There was a men and a women’s division
cash prize that went to the winners of each division
The foundation sold t-shirts, food and drinks at the field as well as other great items that were for sale along with raffles and fun activities for kids.
All proceeds went directly to various youth organizations in Somerville and this was a great day for the whole family.
The Ryan Harrington Foundation was officially formed on August 15, 2012 and the first tournament was held on September 15, 2012. The Foundation raised approximately $13,000 with their first tournament. The decision was made to give to the community organizations that have a big positive impact on the youth of Somerville. The foundation decided to split proceeds and donate $5,000 to the Somerville YMCA and $5,000 to Somerville Recreation for their summer camp programs so that all children would be able to attend no matter what their financial status. Over the next three years, the tournament grew and the Foundation was able to reach out to more youth organizations in the City of Somerville including Somerville Pop Warner, Somerville Little League, Somerville Youth Hockey, Somerville Y.M.C.A., Somerville Youth Football and Cheer, The Sean Collier Memorial Fund, and Lyric’s Champs Skating Club for children with disabilities.
As of today, thanks to the participation of our community and generous local businesses, the Ryan Harrington Foundation has been able to donate a total of $45,000 to the youth of Somerville through a wide variety of local youth organizations.
