“This summer, about 30 local children participated in the Tufts University Summer Music Program at the Tufts campus in Medford/Somerville. The two-week program, led by Tufts Music Professor Edith Auner, features fun workshops for children ages 7-12 on singing, dancing, African drumming and playing instruments like piano and violin. For many of the participants it is their first time picking up an instrument. On the program’s last day, the young musicians perform a concert for family and friends.
Participants from Somerville included Leyla Abarca-Gresh, Lola Cabrera, Britney Flores, Alice Gamache, Farrah Harris, Eva Kauffman, Lillian MacArthur, Simon McGee, Seamus Meader, Cybele Miller, Jacob Miller, Lily Spodaryk and Madeleine Zucca.
