Real Life Somerville Police Stories:Felipe CABALLERO-WRIGHTS (Disorderly Conduct)

On Sunday, March 20, 2016 at 1:42 P.M., I observed a male and a female walking on Artisan Way towards Grand Union Blvd., I recognized the male as a suspect from a previous incident that occurred on 03/04/2016.

I followed them as they walked east on Grand Union Blvd. When they reached the intersection of Canal Street and Grand Union Blvd., they noticed I was behind them as they crossed the street and started to walk at faster pace towards the Kmart parking lot. I informed Somerville Police Control that I was going to stop the male to identify him.

The female ran to a vehicle, she quickly entered the vehicle and started the engine. I parked my cruiser directly behind her vehicle to prevent her from leaving. I approached the male who was still standing outside the vehicle and asked him to stop so I could speak with him.

The male who was identified as Felipe Caballero-Wrights began to walk away from me while the female attempted to drive away. I grabbed the defendant’s right arm and asked him to stop, and he immediately started to scream, pull away and ask the female to record the incident, stating “Get this shit on camera”.

I attempted to inform the defendant of the reason why I was stopping him but he became violent, continued to scream, causing a disturbance in the parking lot. Officer VanNostrand responded as backup. When he arrived on scene, he grabbed the defendant’s left arm, and attempted to calm him down. The defendant continued to scream, stating “What the f*** did I do? Why you stopping me?” At this time several people stopped to observe what was going on as the defendant continued to be loud and engage in this violent behavior.

Officer Schneider also responded to the scene. With the assistance of Officers VanNostrand and Schneider, I was able to place the defendant under arrest for disorderly conduct. He was transported to the Somerville Police Headquarters via unit 200, operated by Officer Catatao, and booked by Lieutenant Mulcahy.

I found the following items in the defendant’s right pant pocket:

– (6) Visa Debit / Credit Cards.

– (3) MasterCard Debit / Credit Cards.

Officer VanNostrand recovered (1) Puma Gift Card from the female operator who was later identified as XXXXX.

Respectfully submitted,

Officer Samir Messaoudi
