Real Life Somerville Police Stories:Jeswinder SINGH (Larceny MV – Scooter)

n Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 12:18 A.M, Somerville Police control received a call from a man reporting that someone stole his scooter from the area of 88 Highland Avenue.

I responded to the scene and met the reporting party / victim, XXXXX, near the intersection of Highland Avenue and School Street. The victim informed me that a man stole his scooter and was walking down School Street. Sergeant Whalen and Officer Moreira responded as backup.

I turned right onto School Street and located a man pushing a black scooter on the sidewalk. I stopped the man and identified him as Jasvinder Singh (defendant). I asked the defendant where he was going and he stated he was going home. The defendant then stated “I found the scooter around the corner and I was taking home, but now I don’t want it.”

The victim stated he parked his scooter near the intersection of Highland Avenue and School Street. He then met someone at a bar on Highland Avenue. When the victim returned to retrieve his scooter, he observed the defendant walking away with it. The victim then called the Police.

I placed the defendant under arrest for Larceny of a Motor Vehicle. He was transported to the Somerville Police Headquarters via unit 200 operated by Officer Obrien and booked by Lieutenant Vivolo.

Respectfully submitted,

Officer Samir Messaoudi

Somerville Police Dept.
