On the afternoon of Thursday, August 27, 2015, I was assigned to marked unit E-3. While on routine patrol, I was heading east bound on Somerville Avenue, a public way in the City of Somerville. At 13:30 hrs, I observed a 2007 GMC Yukon exit the Portuguese Credit Union. The Yukon, being operated by Mr. Ramon Costa exited the business into oncoming traffic, causing a vehicle that had the right of way to stop short.
Somerville Avenue at this time of the day is very congested with traffic. I caught up to the vehicle in the parking lot of the Market Basket (400 Somerville Avenue). As I approached the operator/owner, Mr. Costa, I asked him for his license and registration Mr. Costa immediately replied ” what do you want? what did I do?” He was once again asked for his license and registration, and he once again shouted, ” Tell me what I did!”
It was at this point Officer Soares had arrived on scene to assist. Mr. Costa was advised of the traffic infraction that he had committed moments prior. A check of Mr. Costa’s license revealed that he has a denied license status. Mr. Costa was stopped and cited in Swampscott, Mass. for unlicensed operation in May of 2015.
It was at this point Mr. Costa was placed under arrest for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He was transported to the Somerville Police Department, via unit #200 operated by officer Ducasse. Mr. Costa was booked in the usual manner by the shift commander, Sgt. Diogo DeOliveira.
Respectfully submitted,
Officer Robert M. Pasqualino #271
