Tollier Arrest

On Tuesday, April 15th, 2014 I, was working routing patrol in marked cruiser East 4. At approximately 07:00 hours I was dispatched to Pearl St for a report of a man with a gun. Units East 1 and East 3 were also dispatch as back up.

Upon arrival East 1 and I were met by Detective, who happened to be near the scene. We made our way to the 3rd floor. I immediately heard the voice of man speaking to himself and saying ” you’ve got the wrong guy.”

All three of us made our way in the direction of the man’s voice and took cover at the corner of the hallway intersection. I saw the man sitting with his back turned to us in front of an apartment door. His hand were not visible so I immediately gave him verbal commands to show his hands. With his left hand he threw a black revolver down the hall way several feet and put his left hand in the air. However, the suspect remained sitting and facing away from us with his right hand not visible. The man then stated “I have a rifle!” Officer then gave verbal commands to the suspect show his hands. The suspect did not comply. Detective then gave verbal commands to the suspect to show his hands and the suspect still did not comply. At this point the suspect was advised not to move as we were approaching.

We approached the suspect cautiously. Detective secured the black revolver on the ground while Officer and I handcuffed the suspect. We then noticed that suspect had his pants down around his knees. The suspect seemed delusional and told us that people were coming to get him; they were in his apartment and he had to do something about it. He repeated this over and over several times. He also stated the gun was loaded and he purchased it in 1952. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Somerville Police station for booking via Unit 200.

Detective, Officer and I tried to identify the reporting person. We knocked on several doors until we were able to Identify a witness from an apartment as the reporting person and victim. I asked witness what happened and she stated that she had heard some commotion in the hallway early this morning. She opened her apartment door to see what was going on, when she saw a man who said, ” Go back inside and close the fucking door; I have a gun!” the witness immediately closed the door and called 911 to report the incident.

The firearm and ammunition recovered at the scene were processed and logged as evidence.
