The City of Somerville held a swearing in ceremony for new appointments, promotions and new-hired full time police officers in the city hall alderman’s chamber this past Thursday night.

All together three Somerville Police Sergeants were promoted to Lieutenant, One Somerville Fire Department Lieutenant was appointed to Fire Captain, three Somerville Police Patrolmen were appointed to Sergeant, three retiring Superior Somerville Police Officers were appointed as Special Police Officers and ten Permanent Full-time somerville Police Officers were appointed and sworn in as new hires.

This was also an historical event for the Somerville Police Department because the department had a father and son together being sworn in taking the oath together.

Somerville Patrolman Salvatore Fusco, Jr. was appointed as a police sergeant while his son, Christopher Fusco was appointed as a permanent full-time Somerville Police officer.
