Real Life Somerville Police Stories: Hakeem PARKER (Larceny, RSP)

On Friday, July 16, 2021, at 6:11 P.M., Somerville Police control received a call from Polo Ralph Lauren regarding a male shoplifter who entered the store, grabbed merchandise, and ran out of the store. The shoplifter was described as a black male in his twenties, wearing a red shirt walking towards Artisan Way.

I responded to Assembly Row and saw a male matching the description walking on Artisan Way towards Grand Union Blvd. Officer Pavao approached from the opposite direction and apprehended him without incident. Officer Pavao identified the shoplifter as Hakeem PARKER and placed him in handcuffs.

PARKER had a reusable bag that contained 13 Polo Ralph Lauren shirts (total value $715.00) and 15 shirts from Banana Republic ($450.00). The recovered items were returned to the stores (Copy of receipts attached). Items from other stores (three shirts had price tags and two with theft prevention device attached) were placed into evidence.

PARKER was transported to the Somerville Police headquarters in unit 200, operated by Officer Taylor. PARKER was booked by Lieutenant Holland for larceny under $1200 c.266 S30 and receiving stolen property under $1200 c.266 S60.

I recognized PARKER from previous incidents that occurred at Assembly Row. I advised him that additional charges will be filed against him.
