Our condolences go out to the family and friends of Maria J. (Silveira) Chaves on her passing.

Maria was a wonderful person who will be sadly missed here in Somerville.

Chaves, Maria J. (Silveira) of Somerville, August 29, 2019 at age 62. Loving mother of Christopher S. Chaves and his wife Mandie, Dennis S. Chaves and his wife Katie and Sarah S. Chaves. Cherished grandmother of Dakota and Skylar Chaves. Beloved sister of Paula Lopes, Agueda Silveira, Paulo Jorge Silveira and the late Jose Manuel Silveira. Former wife of Carlos N. Chaves. Also survived by nieces, nephews, many other loving relatives and friends. Funeral from the Rogers Funeral Home, 380 Cambridge St., Cambridge on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 8:00 am. Funeral Mass at St. Anthony’s Church, 400 Cardinal Medeiros Avenue in Cambridge at 9:00 am. Visiting hours at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Maria worked for many years in Dining Services at Harvard University, and also at the Burlington Coat Factory.
