First of Two “Topping Off” Ceremonies at Somerville High School, Monday, August 12

Please join Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone and Somerville Public Schools Superintendent Mary Skipper for a “topping off” ceremony at Somerville High School on Monday, August 12, at 2:30 p.m. on the SHS concourse. This celebration marks a major milestone in the construction of the new high school when the final steel beam of the new building’s western wing – and the highest point of the new school – will be set into place. A second ceremony will be held later this year when the final beam of the new eastern wing is installed.

  1. That field house addition was a monstrosity from day one. My biggest fear as a taxpayer is that they’re replacing it with an even uglier monstrosity.

  2. I have to say its pretty sad to see the Gene Brune Field house brought to ruins especially where it was about thirty years old.

My biggest fear as a taxpayer the high school is already over budget by about 18 million dollars and the contingency budget of 12 million dollars has used up more than 6 million just to get the first phase where it is now.

Somervilles BIG DIG taxpayers batten down the hatch your pockets will be pulled from inside out and bill is rising.

A little too grand gor the needs of a community whos average age is about thirty years old.

The do nothing Councilors will be the first to flee when they realize the big rookie socialistic mistakes they are making.

Time will only tell Sad day in the Ville
