Real Life Somerville Police Stories: Juan MOLINA (Shoplifting & Worcester Warrant) Sak’s Fifth Ave Assembly Row

On Thursday May 5th, 2018, while on full uniform patrol, assigned to unit East 3, I was dispatched to Saks 5th Avenue Outlet located at 300 Canal Street, for the report of shoplifting.  Lost Prevention stated that they had a party detained in the Lost Prevention office.

On scene we were able to identify the shoplifter as Juan Carlos Molina.  Mr. Molina had in his possession miscellaneous items of clothing concealed in a bag with the total value of $805.83.  Surveillance video shows Mr. Molina walking around the store, taking items and concealing them in the bag.  Also in Mr. Molina’s possession was a pair of small wire cutters, in which he used to remove the theft detection devices from the items of clothing.

As a result, Mr. Molina was placed under arrest for the charges of Shoplifting by Concealment c266 S30A and the Removal of a Theft Detection Device, ETC. 266/30B.  A query of Mr. Molina’s name and date of birth revealed that he had an active warrant out of Worcester District Court (WR5392622TC).

A photo of the receipt has been attached to the report, and the wire cutters have been placed in evidence locker 2.

Respectfully Submitted,

Officer Edna DaCosta
