Somerville Firefighters jumped into action battling a blaze as a city owned hydraulic boom truck burst into flames early Friday morning at the Somerville Department of Public Works. Dark black and grey smoke blanketed the Somerville DPW yard while intense flames emerged from the burning vehicle.

Fire crews put the fire out in short time and they are now assessing damage as well as the cause of the fire.

The city truck is now determined to be a total loss with no injuries were reported.
