This past Wednesday evening, Somerville Mayoral Candidate Payton Corbett was seen hanging out with Somerville Pop Warner cheerleaders and their families at Foss Park.

Corbett, a strong supporter of Somerville Pop Warner has expressed his deep concerns in last month’s news regarding the Curtatone Administration denying the leaque the use of lighting during a recent night game.

Corbett pledges to do what it takes to help out these teams and to accommodate them to ensure their safety in and on our fields.

In my fifteen years of reporting the news in and around Somerville, especially during the current mayor’s past six terms in office, not once have I ever seen Joe there at a Somerville Pop Warner Game, never mind taking the time to take a picture with these kids! Now that’s very refreshing to my eyes catching Payton Corbett in this photo and gives us all serious hope for change!

The only times that I have ever reporter the news and used the words and names Joe Curtatone and Somerville Pop Warner together mentioned in the same article was only when he would be harassing them and viciously trying to close this team down in Somerville.

Other than that he would have nothing to do with them and that’s just the way it played out. Joe apparently had some kind of a vendetta or grudge against the coaches and team itself! Once he even right in front of me calling them lowlifes.

As I mentioned in the recent news article that I have posted below and only written last month detailing how he left these kids in the dark and wouldn’t give them any sort of lighting at all for a nighttime game!

Mayor Curtatone has always spoken out against these Somerville Pop Warner children and their coaches for some hateful reason.

Corbett faces off in the Somerville general election against incumbent Mayor Joseph Curtatone on November 7th.
