Meet this week’s “Special Person of the Week:AL Piacentini
Al Piacentini has Somerville in his blood. He was born and raised on Albion Street in Somerville and eventually raised his own family in the same house where he grew up.
Attending the Proctor school as a child, then off to Southern Junior High and then graduating Somerville trade in 1976.
Al worked along side his father as owner operator/son at Buckys Auto parts on Webster Ave in Cambridge for many years.
In 1991 Al joined the City of Somerville as a heavy equipment operator for the Somerville Department of Public Works.
He was one of the first to be involved with the city as they introduced the recycling program. Al retired due to medical conditions in 2008. He is enjoying his retirement with his wife of 38 years. He finds himself today keeping close to his 3 children and 5 grandchildren.
Al can always be found at charitable events throughout Cambridge and Somerville supporting many very worthy charities and is a great supporter of the Somerville Lion’s Club and its many charitable causes.
Our hats are off to his true Somerville spirit!
