Real Life Somerville Police Stories:Ailton ORNELEZ (B&E, Malicious Destruction)

On 03/09/16 I, Officer Christopher Collette, was assigned to Somerville marked unit East Four. At approximately 22:04 hours I was dispatched to 640 Mystic Ave. for a breaking and entering in progress. It was reported that a Hispanic male, dressed in all black had run up the driveway and gained access to the building via a rear door. Officers Diaz and Goncalves, and Sergeant Fusco also responded. Once on scene we found that the rear door was unlocked. All units entered the home, which appeared to have been unoccupied. As we moved to the basement, Sergeant Fusco observed that the door leading into the basement had been forced open and was damaged. Once in the basement we observed Alton Ornelez (XX/XX/XX) present. Mr. Ornelez stated he had been sleeping there. A neighbor informed Officers on scene that 640 Mystic Ave. had been unoccupied since August. I asked Mr. Ornelez how he gained access to the home, and he stated that the door was open. Mr. Ornelez was placed under arrest for breaking and entering in the night time with the intent to commit a felony 266/16/A, and for malicious destruction/defacing property (door) 266/126a.

        Respectfully submitted,

            Patrolman Christopher Collette, B#302
