This past Saturday night over one hundred people gathered at Somerville Holiday Inn for the 2015 Toys for Local Children Event.
Somerville Council on Aging Director Cindy Hickey spearheads the annual event and raises thousands of dollars for local children so that they can receive Christmas gifts under their tree on Christmas morning.
Paul Collyer of BA Events Promotions raised $10,000 for the local charity through his local road race events.
Members of the Somerville Board of Aldermen were present and helping out at the event praising the crowd for their generous donations toward the this great cause, Somerville’s Toys for Local Children.
Dracut Firefighter Tim Grimes, the coordinator, and his crew of Dracut Firefighters have been participating with the Somerville Toys for Local Children organization’s program for the past ten years here in Somerville.
They are the highest producing fire department with tens of thousands of dollars worth of toys donated to the program to date.
Ward 3 Alderman Bob McWatters announced a donation presentation that he arranged through the shoe company http://www.shoebuy.com that donated the twenty pairs of quality shoes for the children as Christmas gifts as well.
The top selling bidding items of the night for the Somerville TLC silent auction was “A Night on the Boston Harbor aboard the Somerville News Boat Marisa” for eight people complete with a full buffet and onboard barbecue that was donated by The Somerville News Weekly.
