Jose HERNANDEZ & Tonis PEREZ-MELGAR Arrests

On Monday, July 13, 2015 I was assigned to marked unit East-1. At 3:52 A.M., I was dispatched along with Officer Goncalves (East-4) to 3 Everett Avenue for unknown male ringing door bells.

Upon arrival, I asked the reporting party to describe the person she saw outside her house, and she stated that she saw a male wearing a dark sweatshirt and has curly hair.

I left Everett Ave and drove towards the intersection of Cross Street and Pearl Street. As I made a right turn onto Pearl Street, I located two males standing outside 131 Pearl Street (Approximately 500 feet from 3 Everett Ave). One of them has curly hair and was wearing a dark blue sweatshirt, he was later identified as Jose Alphonso Hernandez, the other was wearing a blue jacket and had a white T-shirt wrapped around his face and was identified as Tonis Ariel Perez-Melgar.

As I exited the cruiser, I observed Jose Hernandez remove a large knife (eight inch blade) from his right pants pocket and dropped it behind him. I ordered Hernandez and Perez to put their hands against the wall, and called for backup. Officers Goncalves (East-4) and Officer Slattery (East-3) responded.

I conducted a pat frisk and recovered a second knife from Hernandez’ back pocket (5 inch blade) and two knives from Perez (1) Eight inch blade with a black handle and (1) butter knife.

Perez and Hernandez were secured and charged with VCO Possession of Dangerous Weapons, SCO 9 96. Hernandez had an outstanding warrant out of Somerville District Court. They were transported to Somerville Police Headquarters via unit 200 operated by Officer Guillen and booked by lieutenant Lavey.

Respectfully submitted,

Officer Samir Messaoudi
