The SHS Boys Track Team placed 15th at the MIAA All-State Championship meet held Saturday at Fitchburg State University with 14.5 points.
156 Massachusetts high schools had athletes who qualified to compete after placing at the Divisional meets in the prior week. SHS’s Odmark Ozit won the State Championship in the Triple Jump (45’7′) and was selected as a Boston Globe All-Scholastic on Sunday. Sophomore-Shaquille Joseph won a medal-placing 8th, and Sophomore-Imler Ozit placed 13th in the Triple Jump (42’4″ & 41’3″). Joao Baptista won a 4th place medal in the High Jump (6’2″). Carls Alphonse qualified to compete in the 100m race, after placing in the Divisional meet but had a date with the SAT exam and will get his chance next year-along with many other returning SHS athletes. Joao also placed 20th in the Long Jump (19’6.5″). Odmark & Joao (along with Gabby Etienne/Shot Put) will travel to Thornton Acaemy in Sacco Maine for the New England Interscholastic Championship meet this Saturday (6/13)
On Sunday, SHS track’s Isaiah Lombardo received the prestigious Frank Kelly Adversity Award at the MSTCA annual awards banquet held at Lantana’s in Randolph to cap off a great weekend!
