Somerville Boys Track

15 members of the boys track team traveled to the South Shore Principal’s Twilight Meet yesterday (Saturday afternoon into night) at Pembroke High School. The weather was great and rain held off until the very moment the
team boarded the bus to return to Somerville at close to 9pm. The Boys placed well overall with 44 points, good for 4th place overall in the well attended meet (23 teams) won by the home team of Pembroke.
Winning top 6 medals were: Joao Baptista- 1st place in the High Jump/ 6’4″, Nigel Baugh- 2nd place in the 400 meters/ 51.84, Odmark Ozit- 2nd place in the Triple Jump/ 41’4.5″ & 3rd place in the 400IH/ 60.37, Demar Chapman-4th place in the 110mHH/16.24 and Andre James, Ben Pierre, Demar Chapman & Carls Alphonse- 2nd Place in the 400 meter relay/ 45.14
Also winning medals in the freshmen 100 meter dash were: CJ Felix-3rd place 12.53 & Imler Ozit-5th place 12.67
Others competing were: Travis Dolcine, who ran a great race in the mile and was on track to qualify for the state meet with a 4:37 time but walked off the track due to poor finish line markings and recorded a 4:42 for 8th place. Demar Chapman placed 11th- 38’4.75″, Imler Ozit placed 12th-38’2.75″ & Wilbens Vincent placed 15th-37’2″ in the Triple Jump. Andre James placed 12th-18’4″ & CJ Felix placed 14th-17’10.5″ in the Long Jump. Wilbens Vincent- 400IH-65.53 placed 12th, Paulo Guedes-Mile-4:51.21 placed 11th, Malcolm Ducasse-200 meters-24.59 placed 14th and Carls Alphonse-11.67 placed 7th, Andre James-11.98/ 12th & Ben Pierre-12.24/16th in the 100 meter varsity dash. Next up will be the Eastern MA Division 1 Championship Meet at Andover on Sunday 6/1 for a dozen athletes.
