On Friday 3/14, Joao Baptista (SHS Junior) leaped 6’2.25″ to secure 8th place at the New Balance Indoor National Scholastic Track Championship Meet-Emerging Elite Division- held at the Armory Track in NYC. Later-Joao appeared to clear 6’4.25″ by plenty but somehow the bar fell off and was declared a miss. Also competing was Marcelo Brociner, who ran 1:59.45 in the Emerging Elite 800 meter race, placing 25th overall in a meet with runners from all across the U.S and 4 provinces of Canada.
