Somerville/Medford Remembering Nancy A. King

Obituary for Nancy A. King (McCann)
KING, Nancy of Arlington, formerly of Cambridge, passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. Beloved wife of the late William F. King. Loving mother of William King of Reading, Deborah King of Reading, and Donna King and her fiancé John DeCologero of Winchester.

Sister of Susan Nocella of Woburn, Paul and Mary McCann of Arlington, and the late Terry Costa of Cambridge. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, godchildren, and dear friends.

Nancy was a beautiful person, inside and out. At her core, she simply loved and cared for people. She was devoted to her family. Nancy worked hard at maintaining close friendships that she made over her lifetime, from grammar and high school in Cambridge, to Peabody, and to Arlington, making sure to keep in touch through phone calls, cards, or letters. She was at her best when caring for others and making them feel special and loved.

Nancy thrived on social interaction and was always happy attending a party or family gathering, having dinner with friends, spending time near the ocean, in Hampton or at the Cape, or just talking on the phone with friends. She also enjoyed traveling with her family on vacations.

Nancy was a graduate of Cambridge Latin High School (1959), owned her own company (Nanco Products) that she operated out of the house in Arlington, and worked for the Town of Arlington school system. She was a member of the Arlington Catholic Women’s Club, and a regular at the Saint Agnes 4:00 Mass, first in person and then via leave stream as COVID and then a cancer diagnosis made it challenging to attend in person.

Visiting hours will be held at the Keefe Funeral Home, 4 Chestnut St., Arlington, Sunday, May 19th from 2 -5 PM. Her funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Agnes Church, 51 Medford St., Arlington on Monday, May 20th at 11:30 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Arlington. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions be made in Nancy’s memory to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
