Obituary
Guarino, Michele – A longtime resident of Somerville, passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness, with his wife by his side, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. He was 89 years old.
Born and raised in Mirabella, Avellino, Italy, he was the beloved son of the late Raimondo and Antoniette Guarino. Michele immigrated to the United States, where he built a successful career as a skilled stone mason. His attention to detail was truly unmatched, and his craftsmanship reflected both pride and dedication.
When he was not working, Michele found great joy in tending to his garden, which brought him a sense of peace and tranquility. His passion for gardening even extended to making his own wine. He also loved barbecuing and spending quality time with his family, especially with his beloved wife, Geri.
Beloved husband of 45 years to Geraldine (Cerrione) Guarino. Devoted brother of Romilda Pirrone of Italy, Giovanni Guarino of Medford, Marie DeSimone of Arizona and the late Pasquale Guarino. Also lovingly survived by many loving, nieces, nephews, and extended family members her in the U.S and in Italy.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 11th in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville from 10:00AM to 1:00PM. Followed by a prayer service at 1:00PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Services will conclude with entombment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
