SustainaVille: Creating a Resilient and Carbon Neutral Somerville
SustainaVille Week, the City’s annual celebration of sustainability and climate action in Somerville returns April 22-27 with a series of free events, workshops, and interactive activities this week.
Don’t miss Senator Edward Markey and Mayor Ballantyne speaking Monday night, April 24, at Somerville High School (81 Highland Ave.) at 6:30 p.m. They’ll cover the congressional and local Green New Deal resolutions, the Inflation Reduction Act, and how federal funding and priorities can support climate action in Somerville.
More highlights include hands-on gardening workshops, a sing-along, a film screening of “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power”, a discussion panel on Investing in our Planet, a depaving party, and more.
SustainaVille Week also marks the official start of the update process for the Somerville Climate Forward Plan, the City’s climate action plan first developed in 2018. Updates to this plan will be made in the coming months based on community feedback and more recent climate data.
