Dear Billy T and Somerville/Medford News Weekly Speakup Line,

Regarding the proposed safe injection shoot up centers coming to Somerville. why can’t we vote on this? The only meeting coming up regarding this insanity is on August 12th on a zoom meeting and most seniors don’t have zoom!

Has anyone checked to see what percentage of people in Somerville have either the tech skills or equipment to do this? I deal with so many seniors that a smart phone is way too much for them and I end up helping them into a flip phone so they can make a call. And why do things of such importance never lets the taxpayers vote on it. We do vote every two years so why are we left out of the important things? We can’t depend on the council members we elect to represent us as they don’t. So the taxpayers of this city have no say. This is so wrong.
