Richard A. DeSimone was a wonderful person who will be sadly missed here in Somerville.

Richard A. DeSimone of Medford passed away on Sunday, May 9. He was 77 years old. Richard was the beloved husband of Lorraine P. (Cervone) DeSimone. Born in Medford, he was the son of the late Angelo and Concetta (Crolito) DeSimone.
Richard was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1962 to1965. Richard retired from the Somerville Police Department after 36 years, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the Holy Name Society. After his retirement, Richard and his wife Lorraine enjoyed their winters in Florida.
Richard was the devoted father of Richard A. DeSimone Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, Robert M. DeSimone of Billerica and Steven J. DeSimone of Medford. He was the adored grandfather of Ariana G., Michael A., Stephanie and Samantha DeSimone. Richard was the dear brother of Joseph DeSimone of FL. and late Angelo DeSimone Jr. and his surviving wife Carol of Haverhill.
Richards funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Monday, May 17, at 9AM followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Francis Of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, May 16 from 4- 8 pm. Contributions in his memory may be made to American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St., Suite 250, Framingham, MA 01701.
