Somerville Remembering James J. Cabana

Our sincere condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of James Cabana on his passing.

James Cabana was a wonderful person as well as an icon in the City of Somerville for many years and he will be sadly missed here in the city.


James Cabana, 87, beloved husband of the late Patricia (Butler) Cabana, passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. James was born in Boston and grew up in Boston. He married his wife Patricia and raised their family in Somerville.
James spent time volunteering as a little league coach, something he took great pride in. He enjoyed being a homebody. James was a simple man that enjoyed the simple things in life. He will be missed by his loving family and friends.
James is the loving father of Brian Cabana, Larry Cabana and Mark Cabana. Dear brother of Catherine, Anna, Cora, Helen, Theresa, Joan, Joseph and William. Beloved grandfather of Ashley, Jessica and Julia. He is also the proud great grandfather of Aliana
Family and friends are kindly invited to gather with James’ family at the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway, Powder House Square, Somerville, on Friday, April 30th, 2021 from 10 to 11am. Immediately following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake Street, Peabody at 11:30am.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a mask is required while in the funeral home and we are allowed up to 50 people inside at any time.
