Somerville Remembering Brian G. Burns

Burns, Brian G. – 60, of South Boston, formerly of Somerville died on March 4th, 2021 while attending his “Annual Bachelor Party.”
He was the devoted son of Kathryn R. (King) Burns and the late Lawrence J. Burns Jr. The loving father to daughter Valerie A.

Burns, son James B. Burns, and his daughter-in-law Ashley N. Burns. He was the adored grandfather “Papa B” of Jayden J. Burns, Nathaniel L. Burns, Vivian H. Burns, and Evelyn K. Burns. He also leaves his girlfriend Jody Gallery of Quincy and many friends.
Brian was born in Boston, raised in Somerville, and graduated from Somerville High School. As an entrepreneur he began and operated a successful transportation business for nearly 30 years. He also enjoyed property development where he built or renovated dozens of homes through the years dating back to his childhood with his father.
Brian loved to hunt, fish, and vacation with friends and family. He had a vacation home in New Hampshire for fishing, skiing, and snowmobiling. A cabin in New York for hunting. And a condo in Fort Lauderdale, his favorite place to visit. Brian was a longstanding member of over 25 years of Old Colony Yacht Club where he held flag positions of Rear Commodore, Vice Commodore, and Commodore. He loved to throw parties and bring people together. You could say it was his life’s work and true passion. He was truly great at organizing a party and didn’t need an excuse to do so.
Visiting hours will be held at George L. Doherty Funeral Service, 855 Broadway Somerville, on Friday March 19th from 4-8pm. Funeral Procession will begin Saturday morning March 20th at 9:00 am from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, Medford at 10:00. Brian will be laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
