Pentagon Confirms Livestream of Firing Squad Execution

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has announced that the public will be able to watch the firing squad execution of a former US Army major.

A Defense Department official told the BBC that the execution of Nidal Hasan—who fatally shot 13 unarmed US soldiers at Fort Hood in 2009—will be livestreamed.

The event is believed to be the first public execution in the United States in almost a century. John Mills, a lawyer who works with death-row inmates, called the decision to livestream it “unprecedented in the modern era” and “on uncertain legal terrain.”
