Real Life Somerville Police Stories: Gustavo CHAMUL (Op MV with License Suspended)

On Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 5:43 P.M., while traveling West on Broadway (a public way in the city of Somerville), I queried the license plate of the vehicle directly in front of my cruiser a blue Subaru bearing Massachusetts registration xxxx. The results of the query showed that the registered owner’s license is suspended.

I activated my emergency equipment and stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Broadway and Alewife Brook Pkwy. I approached the operator/owner, requested his license and registration and informed him about the reason of the stop.

The operator/owner was identified as Gustavo CHAMUL. CHAMUL handed me his license and stated that he did not have the registration of the vehicle.

I placed CHAMUL under arrest for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, and issued him citation# T1312650 for registration not in possession c.90 S11, failure to wear seat belt c.90 S13A, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license c.90 S23.

CHAMUL was transported to the Somerville Police headquarters via unit 200, operated by Officer D. Lambert, and booked by Lieutenant G. Rymill.

Respectfully submitted,

Samir Messaoudi #312
