Each year, Greeks all over the world celebrate Greek Independence Day on March 25, which is a national holiday in Greece. This is when Greeks remember their long struggle against the Ottoman Empire (Turks), an effort that eventually leads to their independence. Interestingly enough, March 25 marks the beginning of the Greek War for Independence, not the end. Here’s some more information on the history of how Greece eventually won its freedom.
