On 10/29/2018 at 1:35am I, Officer Scrugli was assigned to uniformed patrol in unit East-1, when I responded to Michael’s Bar at 97 Washington Street for a report of an unwanted black male later identified as Rishaad Lee. Lee had already been asked to leave the establishment earlier in the evening and was now still hanging out outside the premises trying to get back in. Officer Costa (Unit East-4) and Officer Johnson (Unit Sector-East) also responded.
On arrival Lee was in the bar’s parking lot and according to him looking for his bag. Lee had made attempts to get back inside the bar after having been told by the staff he could not enter. In my initial interaction with Lee I could detect an odor of alcohol emanating from his person and he appeared to be intoxicated. Lee was very uncooperative and made repeated aggressive stances toward officers. Officers asked Lee several times to remove his hands from his pockets, he was pat frisked for safety and one flat head screwdriver was found.
I attempted to reason with Lee several times giving him the opportunity to quietly leave the premises and go home which he indicated he lived at 122 Cross Street. Lee refused to comply after repeated warnings and began to raise his voice and behave in a tumultuous manner. I informed Lee that if he did not calm down and leave the premises he would be arrested. Lee was non-compliant and placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and trespassing. Lee was resistive to being handcuffed and once on they were double locked and checked for tightness. Transport unit 200 was requested to the location and Lee was taken to Somerville Police Station and booked in the usual manner by LT. Lavey.
Respectfully,
Officer Steven Scrugli (#348)
