Hundreds of Somerville High school Students planned a class walkout of class early Wednesday morning.

The Somerville High School Students walkout was in the wake of a recent Florida school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, resulting in 17 students and faculty members deaths.

The Somerville students along with thousands of people throughout the country are calling for gun control and demanding action on gun violence with tougher gun laws.

The students made their way to Trum Field where they set up a staging area to write thousands of letters addressed to law makers to get their message across.

The students did sign an attendance sheet before leaving campus and they will not get penalized for their planned walkout.
