Somerville High School Robotics Team Goes to World Championships

Team Raising Funds to Cover Travel

The Somerville High School Robotics team will compete this month against groups from the United States, Taiwan, France, Canada and the Netherlands at the FIRST Robotics Competition championships in St. Louis. The Highlanders will be one of around 400 teams at the championships, out of an original pool of more than 3,600 teams. The team’s success has come quickly. This is only the second season that Somerville has competed in the robotics competition. In this year’s competition, robots play a game where they help deliver fuel and gears to simulated airships. You can see a video of this process on YouTube. To learn more, visit the Highlander Robotics website. If you’re interested, the team also has a GoFundMe page to help pay for the cost of traveling to St. Louis.
