The Somerville News Weekly’s Special Person of the Week:Sandy Mattson

By Frank Santangelo

Meet this week’s “Special Person of the Week:Sandy Mattson

Sandy is a life long Somerville resident and is currently the lead worker at the Somerville Brown School kitchen. She has worked there since 2002 and loves everything about it.
She relates well with the students as well as with the school’s faculty and everybody has a fantastic relationship and gets along with each other to get the job done and together they are always looking to always improve the quality of getting things done to benefit the students.

Before taking that position she worked at Somerville High School as a kitchen assistant. She started working there in that capacity in 1997 and her attitude has always been “Students first.”
She loves and relates well with the smaller kids at the Brown School, they are fun and sweet and she simply adores them.
Sandy has a beautiful daughter who is 36 years old and doing very well. She enjoys spending time with her two dogs and also spends every possible minute she can of any time off at the beach.
Whenever a fellow Somervillian is in need, Sandy is always one the first in line to lend a helping hand and come to their aid.

Our hats are off to her true Somerville spirit!

We here at the Somerville News Weekly salute you for everything that you do to make Somerville a better place.

  1. Well deserved acknowledgement. I knew Sandy from FB Farming game only. When I did the Heart Walk in honor of my Mom she was one of the first to donate. Very thoughtful always upbeat!
