Real Life Somerville Police Stories:Albert GAUDREAU (Poss. Class A) Drug Arrest

On January 16, 2017 at 8:44 PM, I was dispatched to the AMC Theater, 395 Artisan Way. Officer Collazo, W5, and Officer Monaco, E3, responded as backup. It was reported that a patron at the bar was consuming some type of drug.

Upon our arrival, we were directed to an individual later identified as, Mr. Albert Gaudreau. Mr. Gaudreau was standing at the bar speaking with the bartender, XXXXX. As I was engaging Mr. Gaudreau in conversation, XXXXX repeatedly pointed to his nose and looked at Mr. Gaudreau while doing this. I then noticed that Mr. Gaudreau had some white powdery substance on his left nostril. I then asked Mr. Gaudreau if he had any identification on him, which he did.

While speaking with Mr. Gaudreau, Officer Monaco spoke with the witness, XXXXX. XXXXX stated that he saw Mr. Gaudreau take out a plastic baggie from his pants pocket and put something on the table. Then he saw Mr. Gaudreau snort something off of the table and put the baggie back in his pants pocket. Then he came over to the bar and started a conversation with XXXXX.

I performed a pat frisk of Mr. Gaudreau for my safety and the other officers present. During the frisk I found a plastic baggie with a brown powdery substance inside his left pant pocket. Officer Collazo, who was previously in the Somerville Police Drug Control Unit, identified and confirmed that the substance was Heroin. I asked Mr. Gaudreau if it was Heroin in the baggie and he answered, “Yes.”

I then placed Mr. Gaudreau under arrest for possession of a Class A Substance. He was then transported to the Somerville Police Station by the transport wagon and was booked in the usual manner by Sgt. Fusco.

Respectfully submitted,

Officer Robert Hartsgrove
