Reality Bites by James A. Norton

The age of political correctness needs to take a step back and look in the mirror.

This isn’t even funny anymore. We all need to move beyond the Twilight Zone and realize once and for all that the mainstream media is not out to give us reliable information in their news broadcasts and publications. They’re just not. We all need to understand that we cannot believe everything that the mainstream media says is true. It’s about as reliable as most of the “fake news” sites out there in the vastness of the interwebs. Not very.

The most perfect two examples of crazy Hollywood elitists thinking they know better than you and me in the last two weeks are Josh Whedon and Meryl Streep. They both did very stupid things recently – Whedon called for extreme violence against Paul Ryan and Streep’s statements definitely solidify her as one of the most hypocritical people in the history of Hollyweird. Instead of thanking those who made it possible for her to be celebrated with the lifetime achievement award at the People’s Choice Awards last week, Streep decided it was a great time to talk about violence and anger and diversity – clearly throwing shade at the President Elect Trump – the hypocritical thing is that this is the same chick who gave Roman Polanski a standing ovation when he won his Academy Award in 2002. Let that one sink in for a minute – or Google him if you’ve been under a rock for the last 40 years. Stupid level: Expert.

To illustrate how silly it’s become look back over the last couple of months. The mainstream media would have had you believe (at the time) that it was going to be possible to overturn the election, the stock market would crash, countries of the world would rise up against the USA, people would move out of the country, that the electoral college would rebel and not elect Trump, that the Senate would rebel and not confirm the election, that the whole thing was a farce, that Trump organized the hacking of the election, that he won’t take office because of scandals about to be announced. And that’s just what I can remember off the top of my head. That’s just a whole bunch of silliness.

So even though it’s all over and it’s time to get to work making America Great Again – it’s still silly season out there and it’s frustrating as Hell. Well, I for one want to move on – and I’m not alone. When I wrote about how Trump would be a good candidate all those months ago and I was ridiculed and threatened and made fun off – I said I wasn’t alone, and I wasn’t. Clearly. Trump got elected because of (or in spite of) the mainstream media, because of the actions of those who showed their own true colors when it comes to treating others. The dirty tricks of the Democratic Party were no match against the brutal honesty of the guy who won. You know they say time heals all wounds, but when people don’t allow themselves to be reasonable, then it’s a tall order to expect anything but insanity in the end.

I think people should try to be more tolerant towards others, as they themselves preach how people should be. I think we should be giving the President Elect the chance to do what he said he would do. He never said he would ruin the country, only make it better – and that sounds good to me. My expectations are low, because the last several Presidents sucked – so why not wait and see what happens – and not plan out protests at the guy’s inauguration. That’s just extreme stupidity in my book. That doesn’t mean I just called everyone on the planet stupid either, in case some nitwit wants to take it that way. You know who I’m talking about – go find your safe zone and stay there with your plushie.

We here at the Somerville News Weekly will be at the inauguration in person in Washington D.C. and here in the ‘Ville on Friday – podcasting a live feed on the Wicked Villens website, the Somerville News Weekly website and all of our related Facebook pages. We hope that everyone will join us in promoting hope for a new direction for this country and keeping open minds for change. #GTBTP
