Somerville Ward 4 Alderman: Marshall Street Traffic Updates

Speed Traps on Marshall St: I’ve received lots of complaints about speeding on Marshall St. I’ve taken these up with the Somerville Police Department and they will be beginning a series of speed traps in the future to ticket motorists exceeding the speed limit. Most of the speeding appears to be by people from outside our neighborhoods, using Marshall St as a cut-through. Nevertheless, I’ll send out a reminder before these traps commence, as we don’t want this to be seen as residents being singled out.

Marshall St Signage: The city has put one-way signs on Marshall St. and they should help with people going the wrong way. Please let me know if these don’t appear to be making a difference.

Marshall St Change of Direction: We will be holding a neighborhood meeting in the New Year to discuss changing the traffic direction on Marshall St. I’ll let you know when it’s scheduled, and I am interested if you have thoughts on this. Contact me if you do.

Pearl & Medford Street: The construction at Pearl and Medford St is completed. Normal traffic patterns have returned.
hope everybody has a peaceful and happy holiday season.
