Somerville News Weekly’s Special Person of the Week Joshua Furtado

Meet this week’s “Special Person of the Week:Joshua Furtado.

By Frank Santangelo

Joshua is an eight grader in the Winter Hill Community School who donated his summer to help his teacher in training his new guide dogs to be able to be around children without getting overly excited.

Josh was actually certified through the “NEADS” program to be able to help train guide dog for veterans etc.

Joshua also donates his time at this time of year to the city’s Toys for Local Children organization by helping fill orders of toys for Christmas for children who might otherwise not get very much.

He loves to play for Somerville Youth soccer and the Somerville community schools soccer team as well as playing volleyball and basketball while keeping his grades at an acceptable level.

He’s a great kid with am infectious smile that everyone loves.

Our hats are off to his true Somerville spirit!

We here at the Somerville News Weekly salute you for everything that you do to make Somerville a better place.
Congratulations!
