A McKinnon’s employee assists Fred Martino and Don Shaw from Middlesex Federal load turkeys into their car. On behalf of Middlesex Federal, Martino and Shaw delivered the turkeys to Project SOUP (Share our United Pantry), a food assistance program operated by Somerville Homeless Coalition. Project SOUP, located at the Cross Street Senior Center on Broadway in Somerville, is New England’s first free supper program. Project SOUP distributed over 100 turkeys, including groceries to make a complete meal, for families to enjoy this Thanksgiving. Over the course of a year, Project SOUP serves over 1,000 people, including hundreds of children, from Somerville households who are hungry or food insecure. Project SOUP relies on donations from individuals, businesses, and local groups to help feed these neighbors in need. For more information about Project SOUP visit http://www.shcinc.com or call 617-776-SOUP (7687).
