Summer officially kicked off this past weekend with the 12th annual Family Fun Day in Somerville on Saturday.
Hundreds of Somerville families attended Somerville Family Fun Day at Trum Field and enjoyed their favorite summertime events and new programs for residents of all ages.
Family Fun Day featured free, family-friendly programming including a community BBQ, pony rides, train rides, children’s activities, face painting, music, and more.
The second part of FAMILY FUN DAY on June 30th will feature live entertainment at Trum Field that will begin at 6 p.m. and will include performances by the 215th Army Band, local Disco-Funk band Booty Vortex, the USO Metropolitan New York Performers, and the Somerville Sunsetters, leading up to a 30-minute fireworks display at approximately 9:15 p.m.
To ensure public safety and pedestrian access to events, traffic and parking restrictions will be in place as follows:
Franey Rd. and portions Charles E. Ryan Rd. will be closed to vehicular traffic from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
No parking on Franey Rd. and portions of Charles E. Ryan Rd. from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
