On June 18, 2016, while assigned to marked cruiser East 1, I, Officer Tim Van Nostrand, was traveling from Mystic Ave onto Temple St. Both of these streets are public ways in the city of Somerville.

 

        I observed Mass Taxi registration 27479 turn left from Mystic Ave onto Temple St without sufficient room to exit the intersection. This violation caused both lanes of Mystic Ave unable to proceed forward on the green light, causing gridlock.

 

        I activated my emergency lights, and stopped the taxi on Temple St. I identified the operator as Daniel Michel. After a query of his license through the RMV, I learned that Michel was suspended. 

 

        Michel was placed under arrest for Operating after Suspension (90/23), and Creating Gridlock (89/9). He was transported by Officer Fusco in unit 200, and booked by Lt. A Rymill.
