Real Life Somerville Police Stories:Saul MEDINA-RODRIGUEZ (Unlicensed Operation of MV & Suffolk Probation Warrant)

On Saturday, April 9, 2016, I, Officer Paul Beckford, was on duty for the Somerville Police (E1). At approximately 1:16 AM, I witnessed Massachusetts Registration 5LS361 run the red light at McGrath Hwy and Broadway. I activated my blue lights and sirens to pull the motor vehicle over. Officer Alexander Lorenti (E4) and Sergeant Christopher Ward (S9) responded to my motor vehicle stop as backup.

The registered owner and operator of the motor vehicle was a Mr. Milton Lozada. Mr. Lozada stated that he lives in East Boston and does not have a active Massachusetts license. He was able to produce a Rhode Island license that was expired, and a paper copied license from Rhode Island that had a active expiration date. The Rhode Island license’s status did come back active. Mr. Lozada is a Massachusetts resident and shouldn’t have a license for another state.

Mr. Lozada was placed under arrest for Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle. Mr. Lozada was transported to the Somerville Police Station by Officer James Torres with our transport vehicle (200). Once at the station, he was booked by the overnight Commander Lieutenant Richard Lavey. During the booking process Mr. Lozada stated that he was on GPS for Trafficking and OUI. Mr. Lozada motor vehicle was not in a valid parking spot, so the vehicle was towed by Pats tow.

Respectfully submitted
