Thank you for your continual support of East Somerville Main Streets. With your help we have been able to create a total transformation of our main street in the last few years. East Broadway is now a beautiful boulevard with defined bike lines, wide sidewalks, and lots of welcoming outdoor seating. We have also spearheaded an amazing public arts mosaic project on the new circular seating in front of the library, multiple murals, and the creation of beautiful banners hanging from our light poles, just to mention a few of the improvements.
In the last year we have brought thousands of people to East Somerville to our amazing festivals and events, including Carnaval, the This Is East series, biannual Cleanups, and the Foodie Crawl. In addition we are painting the finishing touches to two amazing murals, one on Caldwell Street welcoming all people into East Somerville from Sullivan Station, and a second one on East Cross Street, honoring our neighbors and their stories. In order to celebrate our cultural diversity and legacy we have created a video documentary that commemorates the wealth we have in the people of East Somerville. Your support is critical to implement two programs to continue making East Broadway a destination. Our goals for this year include improving the Kensington Underpass, (pedestrian passageway under Highway I93 by the Stop and Shop) making it a safe and beautiful connection between the incoming businesses in Assembly Row and East Broadway. We are also creating a comprehensive guide of all the businesses on Broadway to engage all the community with the culturally thriving East Broadway business corridor.
