I never promised you a rose garden…but you can hold onto my crown of thorns if you like.
I have been going to through old columns of mine again, in an effort to put together a collection of the best (meaning the funniest) of my writings over the years. Most were originally published in one or more newspapers I have been associated with over the last 15 years. I have come to realize that it doesn’t make sense wondering about why things shook out the way they did, but rather, how much I have learned about myself and grown in the last five years. Plus, the material is comedy gold. But that’s another column for another day.
I have said it before and I will say it again a gazillion times – I take great pride in my family, my friends and the people I work with. These are truly good people I have managed to gather around me. Things are happening right now in my professional life that will change everything for everyone in my family – and I owe it all to the good and bad people who have affected my life, especially over the last five years. Good things come to those who work hard, are honest, and stick to a plan.
I don’t need to write in detail about what I plan on doing next – I am going to take the phrase “actions speak louder than words” to the next level. It will involve my business in ways I hadn’t thought possible, especially considering the people I have worked closely with in the past and the closed-mindedness that ran along with it, hand in hand. They all seem to gravitate to each other. Bye, Felicia.
Moving away from all that ugliness, it has been a wonderful past month. Our granddaughter Naomi had her First Birthday, her sister Nevaeh was born and the entire family eagerly awaits their cousin Luna in just a few weeks. Lynda and I will be on the first plane to Illinois the second Luna is born to visit with Corey and his girlfriend, Kaitlin and her husband and all three granddaughters. We are going to have so much fun our faces are going to hurt from smiling so hard. For months.
To say that life is wonderful right now is an understatement. Everything is going according to plan – even the things that weren’t planned – and that’s a good feeling to be secure with home, with family, with friends. There’s a lot of bad things in the news these days – and bad people always lurking, trying to crap on others – but just keep in mind that bad people get theirs in the end. I believe that everyone needs to take stock in their own actions, pay personal debts that are owed, and remember to every once in a while pay it forward – for it will come back to you, I promise. #GMK
