The Admininistration is asking the Board of Aldermen to approve a $5 million bond for the City to purchase/take the vacant lot at 515 Somerville Ave. (near Central St.) by eminent domain to relocate Somerville Fire Dept. HQ there.
There will be a Public Hearing followed by deliberation by the Board on Monday evening. There has been significant community opposition in the neighborhood and questions raised about coverage of Union Square if there continues to be no fire station based in the Union Square area.
