Superintendent Pierantozzi started his career in public education as a middle grades health teacher in 1968 immediately upon completing his undergraduate degree in education at Rutgers University.

He has also worked in public schools as a track coach, Dean of Students, Principal, and, since 2001, as a Superintendent. Pierantozzi joined the Somerville Public Schools as Superintendent in the Summer of 2005. Pierantozzi holds a Master’s degree in Education Administration from Salem State College and is licensed as a Superintendent in Massachusetts. He also holds permanent licenses in teaching and administration in New York. In addition to being Superintendent of Schools, Pierantozzi is a Past President of the Somerville Rotary and is on the Board of Advisors for the Community Action Agency of Somerville and the Duhamel Education Initiative. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Framingham State College.

We applaud Superintendent Pierantozzi for his ten years of outstanding service to our community, to our school department as well as to our students as he presided over his final Somerville High School Graduation ceremony as superintendent this past week in 2015!

We here at the Somerville News Weekly salute you for everything that you do to make Somerville a better place.

Congratulations!
