Somerville Chefs honored by as 2015 Rising Stars

On Thursday, April 16 John da Silva (Spoke), Cassie Piuma (Sarma) and Cara Chigazola (Oleana) were honored

by NY-based industry-trends magazine as 2015 Boston Rising Stars at a ceremony and Tasting Gala held at The Colonnade Hotel.. This award ceremony marks the 49th Rising Stars list that has named during its 12-year tenure and holds a special place in the organization’s heart as Boston was the first city in which they recognized food and beverage up-and-comers back in 2003. Since that first awards ceremony the organization has gone on to recognize a number of notable culinary titans nationwide and a few in our backyard, including Ana Sortun (Oleana, Sofra, Sarma) and Tony Maws (Craigie on Main) who each had protégés honored during this year’s ceremony. The evening was a meeting of minds of the city’s brightest culinary talent and each honoree was bestowed the opportunity to wow a crowd of 400+ Boston notables with their signature dishes and cocktails during the two hour Tasting Gala. In addition to the pleasure of cooking for the city of Boston and the team, each honoree received a commemorative plate and Vitamix mixer and has entered a talented pool of culinary individuals that are recognized as the best and brightest the country has to offer. This great honor is something each honoree will carry for the rest of their careers.
