SHS Girls Track News: Div 2 State Results

The Somerville High Girls Track Team competed at the MIAA Division 2 State Meet on Thursday February 12 at the
Reggie Lewis Center. Junior Gabrielle Etienne led the way for the Highlanders with a 2nd place finish in the Shot Put. Gabrielle threw 36′ 9.75″ and will represent Somerville High at the state Finals on Saturday February 21, also at the Reggie Lewis Center. Also competing individually for SHS was Youdine Felix who ran a personal best of 7.89 in the 55m dash and Melissa Sanon who cleared 4’10” in the High Jump. The girls team had 2 relay teams qualify for the meet. The 4x200m relay ran their fastest time of the season running 1:53.74. Running on that relay was Katia Mathews, Youdine Felix, Melissa Sanon and Saragrace Magre. The 4x400m relay of Katia Mathews, Jennifer Bermudez, Delmi Hernadez and Catherine Nakato ran 4:35.64 which is their fastest time of the season. This years team was led by seniors Co-Captains Saragrace Magre and Catherine Nakato. The team finished the season with a 4-1 GBL record.
