Sometimes it’s all about being a proud grandfather to a beautiful baby girl.

Putting aside the stress and drama, especially when caused by others in their quest to make your life miserable
can be difficult, at the best of times. But then you’re blessed with a beautiful granddaughter and the noise just stops. Dead in its tracks. That just happened.

Life events tend to bring about major shifts in your life, this we all know. Good, bad and ugly alike. It’s part and parcel with the whole living thing. You graduate high school, go on to college, get a job, fall in love with someone and then BAM – a tiny little life comes along and everything changes. Then maybe another one. So here is this small little person who depends on you – who relies on you for every little thing. You do your best, try not to make the same mistakes your parents did, and learn when to let them make their own decisions for their own lives. That’s how it works.

Of course along this journey, your own life takes its twists and turns and tosses a few bombs at you, along with some really excellent moments. Again, that’s how it works, and that’s okay.

Then something happens, midway through the life journey I mentioned. Your kids start having kids and you think of not very many other things that make you smile and feel all squishy inside. That’s what happened to me today, and nothing is going to rain on my parade anytime soon. For today, I became a grandfather and I am over the moon about the newest addition to my wonderful family.

Today, Monday, October 20th 2014 at 7:16pm my granddaughter came into the world – Naomi Kiara Rose Harrison was born to proud parents Jaleel and Kaitlin Harrison. She was 18.5 inches long and weighed 6 pounds, 12.3 ounces. Naomi is the most beautiful baby in the world and a blessing to her parents, her grandparents and everyone in our extended families.

Life is good and we are blessed and my world just changed, again, for the better. I couldn’t be happier. #GMK
