information for Shooting for a Cure With Jack

On Sunday, November 10th immediately following their 11:00 game (around 12:30), the 2002 Boston Stars team is holding a “Shooting for the Cure With Jack ” team event in the tennis court adjacent to the Somerville Rink. The boys will be taking practice shots to help reach their goal of 1,000 shots!

Each team member has committed to making 1,000 practice shots during the month of November and will collect pledges to support research to benefit Cure NF with Jack. (www.curenfwithjack.com). Jack Burke is an eight-year-old boy fighting neurofibromatosis. Although he currently lives in Atlanta, his father, Jake, is originally from Medford. Jack has a tumor on his brain stem and is currently undergoing 15 months of chemotherapy. This amazing boy has spoken before Congressmen and raises money in hopes of finding a cure for this genetic disorder.

The idea for “Shooting for a Cure for Jack” came from brothers Thomas and Andrew McGaffigan, and the entire team is on board with the effort.
